Life Lately: Buying a Quinta, Homeschooling Adventures, and What’s Next

It’s been a minute, and wow, do I have so much to catch you up on! Life has been a beautiful, chaotic whirlwind, and I thought it was the perfect time to sit down, spill the tea, and let you in on all the things happening with our family. Spoiler alert: it’s been a mix of big dreams, messy moments, and so much gratitude.

We Bought a Quinta!

Okay, first things first—we bought a Quinta in Portugal! 🏡 Cue happy dance.

It’s 5 acres of land, and honestly, it feels like stepping into a dream every single day. The space is everything we’ve been manifesting: room for the boys to run wild, space to grow our own food, and a little slice of peace where we can slow down and soak in this season of life.

Of course, as dreamy as it is, there’s a lot to do. Think: figuring out how to actually grow things (wish us luck), tackling renovations, and navigating the quirks of owning a property in Portugal.

But you know what? We’re here for it—all the challenges, the learning curves, and the inevitable “oops” moments.

I’ll be sharing updates as we turn this Quinta into our family’s haven, so stay tuned for those stories (and probably some laughs along the way).

As you’ll read below, we are on a bit of a time crunch with getting the Quinta ready for our upcoming trip and because our shipping container should be arriving within the next week.

That means all bedrooms, living room and storage areas need to be ready.  Since we purchased this house fully-furnished (with stuff that has likely been here for the last 100 years), we’ve had soo much to sort through, donate and for somethings-put in the trash to never see again.

Please send us all the good vibes you can to make it through this next 10-days of CRAZINESS.

Homeschooling: The Good, The Messy, and The Beautiful

Let’s talk about homeschooling. I’ll be honest—when we first started this journey, I had no idea what I was doing. Also – it’s something I ever wanted to do or planned on doing.

But here we are, months in, and I can confidently say: it’s been one of the most rewarding things we’ve ever done as a family.

SJ (9) and Karden (6) are thriving in ways I didn’t expect. We’ve found a rhythm that works for us (most days), and it’s been amazing to watch them learn and grow in such a hands-on, intentional way.

Don’t get me wrong—it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There are definitely moments when I’m ready to throw in the towel (looking at you, math lessons).  And there have definitely been moments where the kids want anyone teaching them but us.  But we always come back to the same conclusion – the type of life we want to live requires us to show up as our best selves in homeschooling and everywhere else.

Overall, it’s been such a gift to be so involved in their education and see them light up when they learn something new.

I’m thinking about sharing more about our homeschooling setup soon—how we structure our days, what resources and programs we use, and how we keep it fun. Let me know in the comments if you’d be into that!

What’s Next: Boundless Life in Spain

As if life wasn’t full enough, we’re gearing up for our next big adventure: joining another Boundless Life cohort this spring in Spain! ✈️ And by Spring, I mean 10-days from now.

If you’ve been following along, you know how much we loved our time with Boundless Life in Portugal and Greece. It’s such a unique experience to live, learn, and grow alongside other like-minded families.

This time, we’re heading to Estepona, Spain, and I couldn’t be more excited!

The boys are already counting down the days to seeing friends (and so are we), and I’m also looking forward to diving into another chapter of intentional living. I’ll definitely be sharing all the highlights (and probably a few funny moments) as we go, so keep an eye out for those updates.

Both boys will be taking tennis lessons through Boundless as their extra-curricular activity and Scott and I will be playing A TON OF PADEL and I’m also forcing him to do the Salsa classes through Boundless.  I’m pretty pumped about all it.

Gratitude and Connection

Life definitely feels so full right now—in the best way possible. Between settling into the Quinta, homeschooling, and preparing for our next adventure, it’s easy to get caught up in the busyness. And honestly?

We definitely didn’t plan on being knee-deep in renovations at a new farm in Portugal when we signed up for this Boundless Life cohort a year ago, but here we are.

But to be honest, this cohort is coming at the perfect time. We’ve been non-stop working on the house, homeschooling the boys, and for me—running two online businesses (or three, if you count this passion project). We’re all ready for a change of pace, some sunshine, beach days, and a whole lot of love from our Boundless friends.

More than anything, though, I feel so grateful. Grateful for the twists and turns that have brought us here, for the lessons we’ve learned along the way, and for this incredible community we’re building (that’s YOU!) who continue to cheer us on through it all. Your support, kind words, and encouragement mean more than I can say.

As we step into this next chapter, I can’t wait to share more with you—our homesteading adventures on the Quinta, more about our homeschooling journey, and all the highlights from our time in Spain.
